RBC Race for the Kids supporting mental healthcare at CHEO

In the past six years, CHEO has seen more children and young people struggling with their mental health than ever before. By partnering with local experts and agencies the scope of options available has grown, but the need is huge. The demand for services at CHEO including emergency, inpatient and outpatient as well as community care is increasing dramatically, stretching CHEO’s mental health resources to the limit. What was once thought of as an unusual surge in children and youth seeking mental health support has become the new normal.

RBC Race for the Kids is a 2K Family walk/run and a 5K and 10K cross-country run in support of CHEO’s work to improve access to the mental health resources when and where they are needed. This year’s annual event will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023, on the beautiful trails at Wesley Clover Parks. Participants can park for free, enjoy the safety of private trails and access family-friendly activities on the spacious event grounds.

Your fundraising dollars will stay local and help to equip CHEO with the tools necessary to meet the mental health needs of our community – including the 1Call1Click.ca program. 1Call1Click.ca is a bilingual service designed to match kids, youth, and families, living in Eastern Ontario, with the right mental health and addiction services, at the right time. Bringing together over two dozen local providers of child and youth mental health and addiction services, this ground-breaking program is the first of its kind in Ontario.

All funds raised in support of the 2023 RBC Race for the Kids will strengthen mental health care and research at CHEO. CHEO remains committed to providing the support and treatment that children, youth and families need and deserve as they face mental health challenges. Thank you for helping us serve this vulnerable population.

We are stronger together.
